Joyce Ann (Boggan) Lawson, 66, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018. She was born on November 20, 1951 to the union of Evelyn and Joe L. Boggan. She was raised in the Laurel Homes in the West End of Cincinnati, Ohio. Joyce attended and graduated from Robert A. Taft High School in 1969. After graduation, she attended Knoxville College in Tennessee, then the University of Cincinnati. Joyce was the first person in her family to attend college. Joyce worked for Cincinnati Public Schools, Queen City Metro and the Community Chest. Joyce settled into a career with the Internal Revenue Service where she held management and instructor positions as a Tax Law Specialist and Training Coordinator. Joyce loved her garden and cooking for her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a good friend, wife, mother and a wonderful grandma. She often said her favorite word was grandma. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Will Lawson; sons, Eric (Tonnie) and Marc (Lisa); step-son, Tyran Lawson; her grandchildren whom she adored, Asante, Isiah, Seth, Zyon, Macyci, and Mont; sister, Terri (Tony) Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends. Joyce was preceded in death by both parents and her siblings, Dorothy Miller, Lloyd Boggan, Joe L. Boggan, Jr., James Boggan, Jeanette Boggan, and Barbara Harris. To her children and grandchildren she says, 'Love and take care of one another.' The Lord is my shephard, I shall not want. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018 in James Temple Church of God in Christ, 1116 Lincoln Ave, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206 with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial: Spring Grove Cemetery.
