Gerald David Cephas, Sr. passed away Sunday, April 25, 2018. He was born on March 21, 1952 to Benjamin and Lauretta Cephas. Gerald was educated in Cincinnati Public Schools and worked at Graeters Ice Cream Company for many years.
He was baptized in Jesus name and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Bishop John T. Cohen at the "True Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith". Gerald was an avid fan of Stevie Wonder and mastered the art of playing the harmonica; the same, if not better, than Stevie himself. He was also a great singer and loved singing in a gospel group with his brothers. Gerald was a Master Artist and sold several pieces of art. He was a loving son to his mother, helping to care for her in time of need. Known as "G-Man" to many who loved him, we will never forget his beautiful smile and his wonderful sense of humor.
Gerald married Diane Chenault in 1976 and to this union seven children were born. He leaves to cherish his memory eight children: Mieya (Eric) Lomax, Gerald Cephas, Jr., Tonica, Ryan, April, twins Marlon and Mercedes, and Ariel. Twenty-eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He leaves to mourn his passing four brothers, Ernest (Cynthia) Cephas Sr., Michael (Venita) Cephas, Sr., Mark Cephas, Aaron Cephas and his faithful companion of sixteen years, Joyce Runyon; and sister, Laura (Eugene) Logan.
Gerald was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Cephas Sr, mother Lauretta Cephas, and three brothers: Laurence, Kenneth and Benjamin Cephas.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Christ Memorial Baptist Church, 1721 Dale Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45237. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the service at 11:00 a.m. Final arrangements entrusted to the Jerry W. Kinley Funeral Home.
